I like this hydration pack so much that I bought another one in the 1.5 size for those rides when I don’t need as much water. The ziplock closer is the way to go. I will never go back to the screw-top lid that Camelbak uses. That style is difficult to close properly and often leaks. The ziplock on this is simple and secure. I also love the magnet that holds the hose in place. Why doesn’t every brand of hydration pack use this? Without it the hose gets in the way and you end up messing with it all the time. The straps adjust easily and the back is about as ventilated as something like this can be. Take note that this is a minimalist pack so it only has one zipper pocket and two open side pockets. Also it does not have a waist strap so there’s a bit of bouncing in some situations but not so much that it’s ever been a problem for me.

I had more or less given up on hydration packs, I’ve never had any luck with them. But I have a race coming up, it’s hot, and the old 16 ounce water bottle tucked in the shorts wasn’t going to do, and the Orange Mud shoulder harnesses might be begging disaster on some technical trails at speed.
I decided to test it out on a brutal hot day, on the first half of the course. To add, I had intended to bring my trusty water bottle just in case. Turns out, I had forgotten the water bottle. So, no pressure right?
The Osprey worked like a champion, no bother , heck, barely any notice of the weight on my back despite it being in the 90s, and the pull on it worked like perfection, no problems drawing on it, despite that always being my problem with these things in the past.
As long as this holds up, there’s hydration gone as a problem. Now to go shred and see about that durability.

Excellent product from the market leaders. Received it today and delighted with fit and finish. Unlike what I had read this one has a magnetic quick release of the chest harness. Very compact and fits snug!

I seriously love Osprey products. I’ve had a FlapJack for 8 years now and it’s held up terrifically. As a result, when I was looking for a hydration pack, I looked for Osprey. I’ve been using this pack for around 2 years now, and it’s still great. It’s lightweight and I’ve found it perfect for cycling, hiking, and even bringing for raves if that’s your type of thing. The reservoir itself is built to last, and the actual pack is extremely sturdy. I’ve always been one to believe in “buy nice or buy twice,” and this is definitely a nice purchase.

This bag survived one of the most brutal torture tests I think any bag would be lucky to endure. I went to a metal music festival, and it survived many hours of me moshing, I was knocked about 6 feet at one point, landed square on my back, and the bag survived. The storage is a little light, but it held sunscreen just fine, and anything more would compromise the bags compact form factor. i was worried about how much the chest strap would come loose, being magnetic, and it held wonderfully. The magnetic bite valve wasn’t too secure for my use, but for hiking or biking it would be great, and I could just route the tube under another strap to secure it.

It is perfect for me while cycling in a dry and hot climate. It fits comfortably and I don’t even really feel it adds much weight. Filling and refilling is easy. Drinking through the nozzle is straightforward and it is nice to be able to drink while riding without having to stop. It also seems decently insulated, as I was able to fill up with lots of ice and water, and even an hour or two later in the hot temperature, I ran out of liquid water and still had ice left in the bag! Impressive. Would definitely recommend.

These bag is the official and the original Osprey Katari 3 Lime stone
model 5-341-2-0 sold by Layger. It has the packaging, and product tags of Osprey.

I ordered this May 31 and arrived June 18 considering it came across the border, it got delivered in a reasonable time, 10 days before the 28 days. I’m happy about that.

This model ran out in Canada so I had get it online from across the border. The only ones left in Canada was the black model, which is a pretty common colour for bags. There’s also the blue colour, but I want the 2-tone lime and grey colour, so I don’t mind paying extra just get the preferred colour scheme.

I like the light weight of this bag, and the slim design.

My main purpose for getting this bag is to bring more water to my longer runs, bikes, esepcially on a hot day. The light weight and slim minimal size helps a lot. It contains 2.5L of water reservoir. In addtition to the water reservoir with water, there’s enough space for wallet, keys other small items, and 2 mesh pockets on the sides for other stuff like snacks/garbage. When I bike or run for 2 hours or so, that’s all I need. There are bigger and heavier hydration bag models (like Katari 7) out there if you want put more stuff in the bag, but for me, this Katari 3 is what I need to for runs and bikes, heavy bag is not goning to help run faster or easier.

It has ventilated shoulder straps and bag panel. The chest strap is adjustable vertically on shoulder straps. The water bag tube goes on top of the shoulder strap band, and secured by a magnet on the chest strap. The tube stays there unless you have a lot of sudden and big movements with your body.

It has a reflector strap at the back for visibility and you can hang a safety light/flash light.

Regarding the hydration bag size, it’s 2.5L. That’s more than enough water for me. On my last trip, I just fill it half way like 1.25L, because it does get heavy if you fill it full, but it’s nice to have that option. Even with 1.25L, I didn’t finish it all on the 2hour bike ride on a very hot (33C) sunny weather. I stored fridge cold water in the bag, and the water remained cool when I sipped. The temperature of the water along the tube was warm, but after that the water from the reservoir was still cool. I think you can help insulate the tube with some after market tube insulators out there so it keeps the water cooler than the outside temperature, if you put cold water in the water reservoir. Anyways there’s enough water in the reservoir that you won’t have to worry running out of water before your trip is over, but on the other than you may drink more than you should because it’s so refreshing. Just a note, as the water level gets less and less in the water reservoir, there’s less and less water pressure/gravity, so you have sip the water on the tube with more and more effort. This is normal.

I won’t be using this bag every week, because I won’t be going long runs, bike, hike very week. But when I do, I can count on the Katari 3 to provide enough hydration on the trip.

As a bonus, you can remove the hydration bag, and use the bag as a normal light backpack. The Katari 3 is light, small, and stylish, you won’t get that strange look when you bring this to a mall, that they think you should be in the wild outdoors. When you remove the water reservoir bag, you will have more stuff to put in the bag. The build material is 100D Nylon Mini Diamond Shadow on main and 600D Polyester on bottom. It’s strong enough for small light items, and should last for years. I don’t advise putting heavy items on this bag, it’s not made for that.

I had a couple of questions for Layger (the seller), and I got response in a reasonable time, with the answer I needed.
I am happy with the Katari 3. Thank you Layger for selling the Katari 3, keep up the good work!
